More than 1,400 students make up the Class of 2020

 •

First-year students, and their parents, crowded the DU campus on Monday for move-in day. More than 1,400 students, representing 48 states and 20 different countries, will start classes at the 91¶¶Òõ next week.

A majority of the incoming class is traveling more than 500 miles to come to DU, and 66 percent are coming from out of state. In addition to the first-year students, about 160 transfer students will start this fall.

For the first time this year, the University launched a common reading program known as One Book One DU. All incoming first-year and transfer students have been asked to read “The Truth About Stories. The book, by author Thomas King, explores how stories shape who we are and how we understand and interact with people.

Domestic students were mailed a copy of the book, and international students were sent a link to a downloadable version. After reading the book, students were asked to complete a prompt sharing a time when they experienced something unfamiliar, whether small or profound in nature.
